The main character of this series is Kurt Austin. Clive Eric Cussler (born July 15, 1931) is an American adventure novelist and underwater explorer. His thriller novels, many featuring the character Dirk Pitt, have reached The New York Times fiction best-seller list more than 20 times. Cussler is the founder and chairman of the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), which has discovered more than 60 shipwreck sites and numerous other notable underwater wrecks. He is the sole author or lead author of more than 80 books.

The showdown between Halcon and NUMA's forces plays out in typical Cussler furyAfirst on the decks of the sunken passenger liner Andrea Doria in the waters off Nantucket and again in an underwater Mayan crypt in Guatemala. It's all great fun, if not a little top-heavy at times from flabby subplots and excessive detail on arcane historical facts and the machinery of deep-sea exploration.

Another passable entry in the first Clive Cussler/NUMA/Dirk Pitt secondary series. One thing you can tell about these books when compared to the Dirk Pitt novels written by Cussler is the expansiveness of the storytelling. These books are more compact, presenting a smaller cast. They're also-rans at the multi-plex, airing opposite the blockbusters.

Clive Cussler Fire Ice (NUMA Files – 3) PROLOGUE ODESSA, RUSSIA, 1918 THE DENSE FOG rolled into the harbor late in the afternoon, nudged by a sudden change in wind direction. The damp gray billows washed over the stone quays, swirled up the Odessa Steps and brought an early nightfall to the busy Black Sea port. Passenger ferries and freighters canceled their runs, idling dozens of sailors

I am a fan of J.A. Nance. It started with the Beaumont series and I wish there were more of them to read. The Heroine in the Joanne Brady series was involved in a case with Beaumont and that's how I got started on this series. I really like Nance's plots as well as how she delves into the characters and develops their personality. I am a nut for Police stories and J.A. Nace writes them well. I gave this a 5 star rating due to how the book held my interest and I know I liked it if I am sorry when the book comes to an end. And I was!

I was surprised Nance was a woman while I was reading the Beaumont series, she did it "that well" while writing as a male detective. She does just as well writing as Joanne Brady. I suggest you saddle up and enjoy one of her books but I'd suggest you get a list and start with the first book of the series. You see the character develop as you read along. Enjoy!

Excellent threading of the two main characters. And the personal, intimate relationships kept the story glued together. Cannot wait for the next book! I started reading the Sheriff Brady series because I had finished all of the J. P. Beaumont books. I enjoyed the joint operations, so I decided to see what the Brady series were about. I'm glad that I did. Now, I have two more J. A. Jance series to follow! And, please do write more joint operations!

I have been reading the J P Beaumont Series in order. I must say, I hope Ms Jance doesn't feel compelled to unite her Joanna Brady and J P Beaumont again. I did not care for either book that she united them in. As a matter of fact, I don't intend to read another book where they do appear together. Also, the Joanna Brady part of this book was not completed. She completely forgot to solve the murder of one of the characters. I, for one, would like to know what was on the video tapes the DEA had.

Honestly, I am going on to read the next book in the series but hope that Beaumont will be back to himself. I also don't care for the story line with his new wife, Mel. I am tired of reading about how beautiful she is and smart she is. He seems to have wimped out.

The murders in Washington State of 6 young women suspected of being prostitutes is linked with the murder of the caretaker of an ATV park in Arizona. The two investigations bring together two of J.A. Jance's most interesting and long-term series characters: Washington homicide investigator, J.P. Beaumont and Cochise County, Arizona Sheriff Joanna Brady.

However, the two separate plots with two investigative teams, two crime scenes, two groups of peripheral characters, two groups of suspects and two Cochise County subplots make the story cumbersome, somewhat confusing and reduce the suspense. Additionally, the J.P. Beaumont story line uses the first-person to relate events, the Joanna Brady story line uses the third-person. Events go back and forth, back and forth between locations, ending somewhat anti-climatically.

This is a good basic story but the execution overwhelms its impact.

Just could not put it down. Lots of excitement, twist and turns but in Clive fashion stays together and just . One of his best so far which is saying something profound. Just a super thriller with great story line.

This is number 14 in the Brady series and number 19 in the Beaumont series. Confusing, but it finally made sense. It made me want to read some of the Beaumont series. This story was confusing in the beginning and I didn't see how they would merge them but they did. There are a few loose ends which I hope they answer in the next book.

Nanice comes through again. Riveting and fast paced. Characters true to form are endearing and familiar. Awesome series with clever crossovers.
Fire Ice was my first Cussler read. I went into it knowing nothing about the author and I was very young when I read it so that might be why it did not make an impression on me at all. It was exciting in parts and it was nice to read a thriller that takes place outside of courtrooms and interrogation rooms but the adventure didn't fascinate me beyond a three star mark. It seemed a little bloated with plots for overthrowing other countries and so on. Again, maybe I have the wrong impression, but that is precisely why I have avoided Tom Clancy's massive books. Sometimes the large, sprawling plots are a bit much to take in, or at least they were when I was younger.
