James Stewart "Jim" Thayer (born May 25, 1949) is an author of thriller novels and an attorney. His first six novels were written under his full name, but since then his middle name is not used. Thayer was born in Eugene, Oregon. His father was a farmer. He is a graduate of Washington State University where he was inducted into the honors fraternity Phi Beta Kappa. I'm starting to enjoy the Thayer stories and his use of history as a backdrop. This was fairly fascinating with the backdrop of a German aircraft carrier I previously was unaware of. Several plot twists to keep you focused on detail, so pay attention!

This is a spy thriller set in Poland in the early Cold War, with OSS operative Andrew Jay assigned to sink the Nazi aircraft carrier, the Graf Zeppelin, before the Russians can take it back to Russia.

Nobody and nothing is what they seem to be in this story. There is plenty of suspense here and the climax is thrilling.

I think this is better than The Hess Cross. I'll be looking for other books by this author.

Highly recommended.

This book had promise but just fell apart. It was disjointed and confusing at times hard to follow. 40% of the way through the book I gave up. It was wasting my time..

This author can write! Excellent story involving unique location and plot. Highly recommended.

Good book. A bit flat at times, but moves along. Could have been five stars with 1) More action. 2) less length. Would have been a better read about 50 pages shorter.
Worth reading in top 5 if you like Thayer.

Excellent subject and characters.... occasional departures from logical behavior can be excused.
