It was appropriate that while I was reading this wonderful novel on a flight home from Singapore, I was also reading Stanley Fish's new book about crafting the perfect sentence. I could tell, not just in the words Polins uses but also in the way that she crafts her paragraphs, that she gave careful thought to every syllable of this work. I appreciate writers who respect the time and intellect of readers. Both the art and craft of Polins' writing provide shining examples for readers who aspire to be writers.

There is, of course, more than mere technical merit in this novel. The touching family references are heartbreakingly genuine. Read this book with care, particularly if you are far away from loved ones. It will move the most cynical reader - and I am firmly in that category - to tears.

Grounded with historical figure Albert Einstein, vivid locations and great characterization, Fare Forward is a fast-paced, mysterious romance with sci-fi elements. I found myself committed to the story and deeply interested in what would happen to the main characters.

While the ending was foreshadowed well, I still felt a bit unsatisfied with it when I laid down the book for the last time. Still, the narrative is ripe with enchanting occurences and spooky dejavu-esque scenes. It's worth the price and the time spent reading.

l loved this novel by Wendy Dubow Polins for many reasons. It combined my interest in science, mysticism and love. I was engaged right away with the story of Gabriella's grandfather and then got lost in the love story between Gabriella and Benjamin. It provoked curiosity. Does love really transcend time....I think many of us wonder that. This story was interesting, provocative, daring and makes you question the power of the universe and the power of love. Read it....you will be page turning to the next chapter....and pondering the strength of soul connections....

Wendy Dubow Polins painted a beautiful story with the words she chose in her debut novel, Fare Forward. I became consumed by the story and the mixture of mysticism and romance that was woven throughout the book. I savored every word and couldn't put it down! As a debut novel, this is an absolute winner!! I anxiously await the sequel to Fare Forward...and I would love to see Sophie, Sydney, Benjamin and Gabriella come to life on the big screen someday!! Please keep writing, Wendy!

This book is well crafted and thoroughly engaging! For those willing to open their mind and heart to what potentially lies hidden and gifted in the universe, it provides a wonderful jumping off point for self growth, global healing and united consciousness.

I really wanted to like this book. It was a book-club pick, but oh, my oh my, I could just not get into it.
I found the tone mildly hysterical, the story over-wrought and the language stilted. And the constant reference to "my grandfather" distancing and distracting. And yet, most people loved it. Try a sample and see for yourself.

I kept turning the pages, but only because I was waiting for SOMETHING to actually happen - that took half the book. The author never made me care about her narrator. I got quite tired of being told about important events, but never seeing them occur or even really have much impact on Gabriella. It was also very tiresome to continually read about her turbulent emotions, but never see them impact her actions. Was this supposed to be symbolic of the wall around her heart we're also told about? Nice try, but it didn't work.

For a book touted as being about mysticism and physics, I found a great shortage of both. Time to wash away the chick-lit taint by re-reading "The Tao of Physics," "Foucault's Pendulum," and "Judaism, Physics, and God."
For someone who normally reads very fast occasionally I come across a book that forces me to slow down, to take it in and really pay attention, and this book has done that. I like it when that happens and it is a story that will stay with me, and I will read again. I was completely drawn into Gabriella and her emotions and thoughts. It is an amazing story and I will be one of the first in line when the second book is published! The painting that the author created in my mind is rich and full, and vibrantly colored with extraordinary detail yet soothing to see. This is not a mindless quick read, it moves along and keeps you captivated till the very end!
