Dame Jacqueline Wilson DBE, FRSL (née Aitken; born 17 December 1945) is an English novelist who writes for children's literature. As her children's novels frequently feature themes of adoption, divorce, and mental illness, they tend to attract controversy. Four of her books appear in the BBC's The Big Read poll of the 100 most popular books in the UK, and for her lifetime contribution as a children's writer, Wilson was a UK nominee for the international Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2014.

These were my least favourite Jacqueline Wilson books when I was younger (why would you want to be a teenager talking about boys all the time when you could be the Suitcase Kid, cracking jokes at the expense of her horrible stepdad or Tracy Beaker, absolutely dominating the Dumping Ground?!) and although I like the way Wilson writes, I enjoyed them even less.

It is a very interesting and heartbreaking!
I would say that you should read this book if you like to read

I've read all the books in this series, and I really like them. However, this one was a little bit of a disappointment. I did accidentally read a review that spoiled the whole book for me, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I think I would have.

The only thing I liked about this book was that it was a slight improvement to Girls Under Pressure. But I still found this book really depressing and a really bad read. Ellie and her friends act like a bunch of three year olds, like what kind of a best friend calls her best friend fat??? If you, for some reason, want to buy this book, please do not waste your time!!! Just take it out from the library. Nadine's boyfriend is called Ellis, she hasn't met him in person, he's her online boyfriend. Magda kisses Ellie's boyfriend. Nadine calls Ellie fat. Ellis is really a creep of an old man. Ellie thinks her dad is having an affair. Magda says sorry to Ellie. Ellie gets drunk (wierdo, she's only like 13 or 14!!). Some gay guy helps Ellie. All the girls start roaring crying like babies. They decide to be friends again. I think it would have saved Wilson loads of time if she wrote her depressing boring story like that, not that her story was very long, I read it in under an hour. The Girls books really annoy me!! Can they just grow up for God's sake!!!!! If my friends and me acted llike Magda, Nadine and Ellie, I think we would all give each other some good wake up slaps accross each others faces!! So I really would NOT recommend this book to anyone!!

I am not the type of teenager who has had a lot of boyfriends, but I felt that this book was very.. different to the kind of relationships that I know that my friends have had.

Wilson seems to forget that teen girls that are fourteen or turning fourteen often have pretend boyfriends - meaning that they just say that he is their boyfriend - yet never really having a relationship with them.

I understand that snogging (horrible word) etc are now, unfortunately, common for teens of that age. But it was overdone in the book.

Saying that, it was a good read - and I'm glad that Wilson told teens not to meet up with people that you meet online. It was a good point to make.

6/10 - Good But..

I enjoyed this book a lot! I like this book, and the other books in the series, because they have real life situations in them but they all have a little bit of a twist, which makes them more interesting!

At the beginning of this book Ellie, the main character, is getting really excited over a ring her boyfriend, Russel , gave her. Later on in the book she goes to a party with Russel and her best friends, Magda and Nadine, and the party has alcohol and they all start drinking. A while after this Ellie ends up getting sick and goes up to one of the bedrooms to lie down. When she gets up to leave she walks down the stairs, but can't get through because two people are making out at the bottom of the stairs, and the two are her boyfriend and her best friend Magda!!!!! But to find out what happens next READ IT!!!!

Jacqueline Wilson is a great author! I love this series and have read 2 others, Girls Under Pressure and Girls in Love, and am currently reading Girls Out Late!!! I loved them all!!! = )

I'll type in the blurb so you get an exact description of the book: Ellie's glorious romancs with Russell is teetering on the rocks. Magda's lost her pet and is desperately upset (though the others didn't even know she still had a hamster!). And Nadine is fed up with the other two lecturing her about meeting someone on the internet-she thinks an e-mail boyfriend is wonderful!

I personally love this book, I love all of Jacqueline Wilsons books. It really relates to teenage girls, it's almost as if she has the mind of a teenager. I've read this book twice. I've done the same with girls out late, girls under pressure, girls in love, the lottie project, suitcase kid, the dare game&the story of tracy beaker. I also love watching the tv series Tracy Beaker. It's great. Jacqueline Wilson is my favourite author, and I'm sure if you start reading her great books she'll be yours too!
