Understanding the interconnectivity behaviour between the critical infrastructures, and how it changes depending on the complexity, can reduce the effect before cascading occurs. Moreover, this would control the damage and limit the impact. Simulation has a key role in the advancement of critical infrastructure protection.

Data communications and networking may be the fastest growing technologies in our culture today

Data communications and networking may be the fastest growing technologies in our culture today. One of the ramifications of that growth is a dramatic increase in the number of professions where an understanding of these technologies is essential for success-and a proportionate increase in the number and types of students taking courses to learn about them. Features of the Book. Several features of this text are designed to make it particularly easy for students to understand data communications and networking.

Signal Encoding Techniques. Digital Data Communication Techniques. Congestion Control in Switched Data Networks. Cellular Wireless Networks. Local Area Network Overview. Circuit Switching and Packet Switching. Asynchronous Transfer Mode. Routing in Switched Networks. Internetwork Protocols. Internetwork Operation.

The explosion of the World Wide Web has created greater awareness of computer networks, and has made understanding network fundamentals and data communications essential. The Second Edition of Shay's best-selling book combines a solid and well-respected presentation of data communications and network fundamentals, with important information on the state-of-the-art developments that support the World Wide Web. New topics include asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), modems, and new topics in encryption and network security. Expanded coverage of LAN/WAN systems and protocols includes the Netware LAN operating system and TCP/IP and IPv4 WAN protocols, with new coverage of the IPv6 WAN protocol. Dr. Shay presents these fundamentals, and a wide array of specific applications, at exactly the right level for Junior CS and CIS majors intending to be information systems professionals.

Here's and excellent book for anyone who wants to learn about data communication and network systems. It uses an easy to understand language and gradually introduces a new topic. It touches all aspects of transmission modes and protocol concepts but if you want to study the seven OSI layers a better book would be Computer Networks by tanenbaum.Still a good book for beginners of the subject.
Bladebringer
This book explains things fairly well. I would have rated it a 3 or 4, but they forgot the most important thing: THE SOLUTIONS TO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS!!!!! Where are they??? Without the solutions to the practice problems a technical textbook is pretty much useless!
Hawk Flying
This book was easy to read and explained how a data network operates.
Kulasius
Understanding of transmission modes of the information - important moment in in our life! Thanks!
