I do not know if this is an error on the book I received or if this is the actual way it was published. Truth is that the writting on the book is all messed up. Scrambled characters, repeated sentences and ideas... Most parts are very difficult to understand and some are actually impossible to understand as they make no sense... It feels like you are reading a sketch of a book to be...

If this is a printing error, it's a shame no one cheked it before shipping to the client... If this is the way the book is supposed to be, it's unbelievable how the editor accepted to print it as it is...

Excellent as an insight to the thoughts and views on judo techniques by one of "the four kings"! One must not think to much of the quality of the translation.

First, any judo player or historian MUST have this book as part of their library. Now, that said, there are SO many grammatical errors in this book that after reading the first 50 pages or so I went back to the biggining to catelog the errors.

However, this text was produced around 1915 and these gentlemen would have been students of Kano shihan himself. And if you appreciate "old school", more traditional judo you really ought to add this to your collection of judo books.

Judo Kyohan, is a facinating look into the history of Judo. This version, however, is an insult to the purchaser. It has been scanned, and all the scanning errors have been left in, as well as many of the photographs being incorrectly labeled or just the wrong photograph. Don't waste your money on this version Judo Kyohan by Buyu Shoseki Shuppan is an altogether better purchase - worth waiting until it is available.
