From Ron Shandler For me, the annual multi-month gestation that ends with the birth of this book continues to be an immensely gratifying experience. Thanks again to Ray and Brent for shepherding this baby through its early development. Thanks to the BaseballHQ. com staff for pushing the envelope on innovative, high-quality fanalytics.

Rather than predicting batting average, for instance, this resource looks at the elements of skill that make up a given batter’s ability to distinguish between balls and strikes, his propensity to make contact with the ball, what happens when he makes contact and reverse engineer those skills back into batting average. The result is an unparalleled forecast of baseball skills and trends for the upcoming season and beyond.

i've played fantasy baseball for years -- have used ron shandler's book to prepare since 2009. If all you want is a cheatsheet for your fantasy draft, don't buy this book -- ron tells you that himself. there are 1,000,001 free internet cheatsheets, and plenty of $8 FB magazines if you don't want to invest any of your own time. shandler focuses on hitting/pitching SKILLS analysis, and uses this as the basis for projecting improvement/stability/degradation of individual player performance. it takes time and thought to digest the info in this book, but i do it because 1) it's fun, 2) it makes me THINK about specific players and their relative value, which is the key to successful FB, 3) using the free xcel internet downloads from shandler's website, i have a blast creating my own draft cheatsheets 4) in virtually every fantasy draft, i have been able to get great value by identifying low profile/good skills players with low ADP's -- then i deliberately wait until late rounds to get pretty good (but relatively unknown) players. BOTTOM LINE: if you love fantasy baseball and you like to ANALYZE fantasy baseball, BUY SHANDLER. if you want a no-effort fantasy draft cheatsheet -- forget shandler and get a free cheatsheet off the internet.

lots of knowledge here if your a fantasy geek like me.If you love the behind the normal stats they are all here.It can be overwhelming at times. But things like why did his batting avg go up last year?Do the numbers show he's improving or was it because more hits fell luckily in than his past 5 year avg suggests?Casual fans probably wont enjoy this mag.But if you are a stats freak, play for money or would like to know the numbers behind the numbers then this is the "bible"

If you play fantasy baseball you need this book.

The statistics used are far beyond what you'll see elsewhere. Prior to reading this book, I thought I knew a lot.

The projections are great. I don't agree with all of the numbers that the book's formulas spurt out, but they're definitely worth considering in your draft strategy.

My husband relies upon this book every year to get ready for Fantasy Baseball. I order it for him and it arrives at our home very quickly and in perfect shape. It can't get any better than that.

this publication is a great reference for rotisserie leagues if the numbers are analyzed and used without regard to any personal thoughts on a particular player. i have used the forecaster for several years and found it to be the "best" resource for player analysis and evaluation.
If you want a book that has some evidence to support it's rankings, this is the book for you. Batting average and ERA are not indicators of performance. Want to know why not? Buy this book and find out. After reading Ron's column about LIMA many years ago, my whole approach to fantasy baseball has changed. And the ways you evaluate players will forever change, too. You won't look at BA, ERA, wins, saves. You'll look at contact rates, and strikeout-to-walk rates and all kinds of other stats that you probably never heard of, stats that Joe Morgan has never heard of, lol(bad example since he just makes up stuff)...But seriously, I buy this book every year and subscribe to the HQ site because it helps. If you really want to win, you take the book, follow some of it's advice and do some homework. That is how you will win, or at a minimum improve your baseball performance. I should get paid by HQ, I sound like I work there!
