If you are not really into religion (which is a preference), I'd still recommend that you read this book, as the Hybels church is Christian, but its Non-Denomination and nowhere in this book does it shove religion down your throat. Overall, I liked this book. It was great to see perspectives and issues from both the husband and the wife. All the situations were very relatable and I did like the strategies presented. I would say the first five chapters were not as relavent to those of us who have been married for some time as they dealt with courtship and dating. This is a good book for both those dating or considering marriage. The author is a pastor and while I am spiritual and believe in God, I found some things a bit unrealistic for me personally. For example, there is alot of talk about praying together and having the same level of spiritual committment. For me prayer is personal so it was hard to relate. Also, it does help if both people are believers or have similar levels of spiritual committment but I don't find that to be a deal braker or an issues that is harder to deal with than the day to day issues that arise in a marriage. That is probably why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. However, the book does do a great job of dealing with day to day issues, personality differences, and even addresses anger and resentment. It is encouraging to see that a pastor's family has the same struggles many of us do in our marriages, and that they were able to make their marriage stronger. Definately worth a read.

Do you want to get married? Then you want to read this book because you want to know what you will be attracting. What you are that you cannot see is what you will most likely attract. Use this book to not allow that to happen.

This is a wonderful book if you are married or single and want to remain single this is still an awesome book to read.

I've read and used (for pre-marital counseling) a variety of marriage books, manuals, and workbooks, but this is by far my favorite. Personal, practical, and well-written. Written from a Christian point of view, as will be clear to the reader, but valuable for non-believers as well, if they aren't put off by that. Highly recommended.

Excellent. Would recommend to any couple that has started the conversation about marriage. My only (small) hang-up is that the authors, Bill and Lynne Hybels, use examples and stories that are probably pretty dated for 22-28 year-olds getting married nowadays. The principles are sound, though—well enough to be applied to anyone's marriage, especially those looking to place God in the middle.

This book has been great for my girlfriend and I. It is an older book but really holds true to this day. Going through this book has really helped our relationship and we have grown together through reading this.

Good book, and it was definitely something my husband and I could resonate with in most cases. A decent-length read. Not too short or too long.

Great read for engaged or newly married couples--or any couple for that matter.
This book changed my marriage, perhaps even saved it! Out of the dozens of books I have studied on marriage, this counts as one of the best. My wife and I invariably recommend this as a must-read/study for any couple who wants to improve their marriage. For couples in ministry, it is often a marriage-saver.
