Author Mata Elliott is a strong new voice on the inspirational romance scene. In this her debut novel, she displays strong writing skills and mature character and story development. In "Forgivin' Ain't Forgettin'", Ms. Elliott introduces Cassidy and Trevor. Cassidy is a single, Christian woman who because of a challenging past has decided that a life of singleness and dedication to God are the future she chooses. Trevor, recently widowed, is dedicated to raising his daughters into the strong women of God his late wife was. He's nurturing her memory and devoted to his baby girls and his bakery business.

Though they have attended the same church for some time, Cassidy and Trevor come into closer contact and interaction when Trevor and his girls move into the home Cassidy shares with her Aunt Odessa. Without Cassidy knowing it, Aunt Odessa has come to the rescue of Trevor's family due to a fire in their home. Once they are in the same quarters, Cassidy and Trevor discover that they are undoubtedly attracted to each other. Whether they will be able to overcome Cassidy's mysterious past and Trevor's continued devotion to his late wife is unclear.

Ms. Elliott cleverly weaves a bit of suspense with old-fashioned romance and drama in this captivating tale. I look forward to taking another journey with her in another novel very soon.

This book really could have been cut in half. By the time I got to 40%(on kindle) I couldn't take it I jumped to the end and even at 96% I still skipped through the pages, and after all that I still understood what happened. The only reason why I read as much as I did was because of the reviews, but this book was not for me.

True Story:

I know a set of twins who had been molested by a family friend when they were 13. Twenty years later, one twin "Tia", worked her way to forgiveness and released herself of the burden that comes with holding onto pain.
The other twin, "Tamara" found herself, overweight, bitter and was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer.

I believe that Tamara's unwillingness to forgive manifested itself physically. I was able to learn for her mistake and I practice forgiving the people in my life.

This book illustrates the necessity of forgiveness in a way that is unforgettable!

I truly enjoyed reading Forgivin Ain't Forgettin. I cried, I laughed, I yelled, I prayed.

It was like getting two books for the price of one, a mixture of Church Folk (romance) and Woman Thou Art Loose (ministry & healing).

You start off entering a world of romance. Elliott takes you into Cassidy & Trevor's lives, she walks you through with eloquent prose allowing you to see, feel, hear and taste their struggle to allow love into their lives. Elliott has you cheering Cassidy on, saying, "Trust the Lord. Don't be afraid. Girl you better get that man!"

Then the book moves you into a place of ministry and healing. You realize that to truly move into God's blessings and deliverance you not only have to forgive others but that you must forgive yourself even when you know that the Lord has forgiven you.

Great job Mata Elliott! I look forward to your next book!

I purchased this book approximately a year ago but for some reason I could not bring myself to read it. What a mistake I made. Shame on me. I loved this book from beginning to end. It was well developed and I felt like I knew the characters personally. I would love to find out what happened with Trevor, Cassidy, Raven and Lena.

If you have not read this book, you are missing out a good thing. Keep up the good work!

A Lova' Like No Otha' by Stephanie Perry Moore loving Christ's way, August 26, 2011
This book is one of the literatures i'm saving for my girls to read when they grow up should Jesus tarry.
It is an epitome of what pure love should look like. And the extent to which the wedding vows should be taken seriously even when there is a strain in the marriage except in the case of adultery which is one reason known to me as an excuse for divorce or in the case of physical and emotional abuse.
The book also showcases a Godly man in Trevor who loves his girls so much and stepped in when their mum died, his undying love for his late wife, Brenda.
Also stood by Cassidy and was patient enough to wait until she was ready to talk, to save their marriage.

Story plot ws great. Didn't like characters or incidents mentioned then hadt o wait too long to know who or what insignificance they/it played.
I enjoyed the book and found myself constantly turning the pages because I was curious as to see how it ended. My book club will meet this coming Saturday to discuss it. I already know that some of the members enjoyed it as well.
