This is your typical storyline...girl gets her, girl finds other girl attactive, girl discovers other girl is a player, girl refuses to get invovled. As typical as that sounds, the delivery was just about the same...typical. There were spots were there held a great deal of promise but they came and they went...
The writing I think has gotten better from Albert's other book "Dinner for Two" but the dialogue still kills me most of the time...it's just so dry and lacking any real flow for me...but I'll read her next one becasue I like to punish myself I guess.
It's an easy read and if you got time why not...oh one more thing... who the hell is Lily!?!? That is never answered unless I missed it or something but what connection does she have to Jamie...urgh

All in all, a good book that left me wanting more. The story could have been developed at a different pace without the "emotional gushiness". Hope to try another book from this author to give it another shot. I was entertained and some scenes are sassy.

Dr. Miranda Ross is trying to recover from a failed relationship by working as a doctor on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean Sea. She doesn't trust anyone with her heart, especially not Jamie Jeffries the head fitness trainer who is good looking and has a reputation of sleeping with every available woman on the ship. What Miranda doesn't know is that Jamie's reputation is based on conjecture, not reality. Jamie is focused on a goal, to save enough money to open her own fitness center, and doesn't have time to play around with everyone who makes a pass at her. As ship activities throw them together, the women discover there is an attraction, but Miranda won't allow herself to trust Jamie and the end of the cruise appears to be the end of their relationship. Months later Miranda has started her own practice and realized that she made a serious mistake not pursuing the situation with Jamie. When they accidently run into each other, Miranda is determined to make up the situation with Jamie, but she still has trouble trusting her enough to move the relationship forward. This time Jamie also has a trust problem based on Miranda's previous behavior and the question is whether each of them can let down her barriers enough to see what's possible.

I'm not sure, but I think this is Janet Albert's first book. In a nutshell, it was acceptable and a good first attempt, but the author has a lot of room for growth and improvement.

Here she introduces physician Miranda Ross and fitness trainer Jamie Jeffries. Miranda leads a lonely life and doesn't make room for romance. Her heart has been broken too badly to give love another chance. She's also not interested in one-night stands. Accepting a job as the primary physician on a lesbian-only cruise ship line, Miranda meets the ship's lead fitness trainer, Jamie. Jamie is beautiful and could seemingly have any woman she wants - in fact, rumor has it that she does. But, Jamie has eyes for only one woman - the elusive Miranda.

These two women cause sparks whether they're fighting or flirting. It's fun to watch their dynamic. On the other hand, the story and characters are rather shallow and predictable. Outside of the basic premise, the author doesn't use much imagination. The character dialogue is a little immature as well.

Bottom Line - I'd give another book by Albert a chance, but I certainly hope her writing matures with that endeavor.
