Reviews about Summer Desserts (Great Chefs) (7):

I have been a Nora Robert fan for years. She has always been able to tell a love story and make the book impossible to put down. This book is so boring. We get it, the main character is a chef, a great chef, an awsome and amazing chef, everyone wants this chef and on and on and on. This is not a Nora Roberts romance. This feels like someone who is trying to use as many words as they can to make a very short story into a bigger book. I'm not giving up on Nora Roberts, just re-reading her older books. That's enjoyment over and over.

I have read, and re-read every Nora Roberts book ever published. I struggled to finish this one. I actually looked to see if it was some sort of collaboration and it wasn't really Nora Roberts writing it. I never hesitate to spend the money to buy her books as they come out, but this one, in my opinion, was money I should have spent elsewhere. I keep wondering if this was an early, not published before work that they brought out of the drawer, dusted off, updated here and there and released as new. So disappointed.

This book is so vague that even the generalities are hidden. The plot is absolutely translucent. I kept thinking that something would happen to save this book, but it continued to the end to be a pre teen level book with no plot, using adjectives and adverbs to fill up the page. This book is a total waste of time to read. Pick up another book to read because this book does not have one saving grace.

It never fails me , the complete perfection in a Nora Roberts book Never to much description but just enough to make it so you can truly imagine everything that you read, and thoroughly enjoy every page .Anxious for the next page but not wanting for the story to end. I always make sure to have two of her books at a time ,one reading and one waiting. Always good entertainment. Thanks for another wonderful book.

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for many years but was not impressed with this book. Roberts writes in many styles, from gritty mysteries to mystery love stories that are heavy on storyline and mild on love. She also writes syrupy romances where little but the locations and names change, kind of like the old Doris Day/Rock Hudson movies. That is how I felt about this book, almost a template story that was predictable from the beginning with far too much time devoted to the bedroom. If you are a fan of this genre, you will no doubt love the book. I far prefer her other genres.

I loved the love dance that was created between this couple. My favorite part of it is how love found them even when they weren't looking for it, that they experienced a much more powerful connection than just a physical connection.
Even though Summer agreed to take the leap, I think there's more of a journey for them before they make it to the later. I'm waiting for a sequel!
one life
This is the story of two people who are unique and who begin to work together. Both are committed to their work and creating the unique, she is a world class baker who takes on rearranging his hotel kitchen. He manages hotel chains and wants to keep them top class. Can they get past their assumptions about themselves to accept that they might fall in love without losing themselves or their work?
It was a wonderful surprise to come across one of Nora Roberts' earlier books that I had never read (I have most of her books). This was a delightful romantic story about a couple who seemed totally unfit for each other, but it didn't feel formulaic like most romance novels do. The back and forth and give and take between the two was interesting and at times amusing. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
