An age old story with an interesting twist that occurs within the first minutes of the story. Everything that happens after that is believable and somehow seems inevitable. I read this book thirty years ago and never really forgot about it. I ordered it on Amazon and read it again straight thru on a long flight, a lifetime older than the first time I read it. I enjoyed it once again and it still rang true.

Typical Joy Fielding book only not one at the top of the "great" list. Worth your time if only to teach the lesson that what goes around eventually comes around. ( I keep waiting for one of her main male characters to be honorable and true to his wife! )

************Added after watching Lifetime Movie***************

The Lifetime movie directed by Jason Priestly and starring Josie Bisset was quite stylish and was actually better than the book.
In general, books seem to be better at telling the story, but in this case, the movie was a better choice. With a few exceptions the movie storyline stayed true but this was probably due to the fact that Joy Fielding herself produced the film.

Other reviewers have related the story so I will just say that if you have a chance, catch this on Lifetime rather than reading the book because it is much more enjoyable.

The Other Woman is by far one of my favorite books. You can figure out pretty quickly what is going on with the story, but it keeps you glued to it nonetheless. Joy Fielding is a master of romance and intrigue.

I think Fielding is always worth reading. Each story is different but one can always get really lost in them. I took probably two days to read this. Fielding is just really good at weaving stories that take you out of your everyday life.

I like Joy Fielding's books for relaxation. Her plots are compelling and she nails how both her men and women characters think.

Great Joy Fielding novel, that was made into a good tv movie. This acquisition helps to fulfill my complete Joy Fielding novels.
I read this book about six years ago and it was the beginning of a "Joy Fielding marathon" for me. I absolutely LOVED this book and it really has never left my thoughts since that summer six years ago.
I picked up the book in the romance section thinking "well, this sounds like a fun twist on romance" - I had NO idea what I was getting myself into. The book begins with a gorgeous new attorney (Nicole) coming up to the used-to-be-mistress-turned-wife, Jill to tell her that she plans on marrying Jill's husband. Although startling, Jill brushes the encounter off. Fast forward a few weeks and she begins to notice David working late at nights and making excuses for being away. Jill knows all about this as she was the mistress who stole David away from his then wife. The story gets complicated with the twining of David's two children from his last marriage. Jill begins to feel emotions of guilt and regret for engaging in an affair with David.
This literally was one of the best books I have ever read. After reading this book, I read each and every book that Joy Fielding put out and loved them all-although this one has really been the best book ever! A classic story that surpasses eras.
