The Costanzo Baby Secret Текст. AT TEN o’clock on the morning of September 4, exactly one month to the day since the accident, Dario Costanzo received a phone call he’d begun to fear would never arrive. I have news, signor, Arturo Peruzzi, chief neurologist in charge of Maeve’s case, announced. This morning, your wife awoke from her coma. Sensing from the man’s neutral tone that there was more to come that didn’t bode well, Dario steeled himself to hear the rest.

His face was more vulnerable in sleep, making him appear less the powerful business magnate. She loved the lean, firm line of his jaw, even dusted as it was with new-beard growth, and the way his black hair, normally so well behaved, spilled riotously over his forehead

I haven't read this book so I can't judge on it's writing but I do want to say that in my opinion you shouldn't judge an author by reading one book of theirs that you didn't like. I have read books by many authors, some I liked a lot, others I didn't like at all but I still read some of their other publishings. Just saying, You can't judge a book by it's author, that's all. It's now a few days later and I have finished reading this book and I simply loved it. It's about a woman who loses her memory in a car crash and she doesn't know she is married or has a son. Her husband claims her and takes her to their home to recuperate. The doctor tells him not to tell her anything about the past but to just let her heal and in time she will remmeber. Well she does remember but not until almost the end of the story but in the meantime the story of how they met is told by the husband who incidentally, I just loved. He was so warm and tender with her and patient. The mother-in-law was from hell to say the least and I was glad her son stood up against her and for his wife. All in all it was a good read and I was sorry it ended. Catherine Spencer is a very good writer and this book is a keeper.

This book is about a woman who is in a car crash and can't remember the past year of her life - including her husband and her son. I love books where there is insights into the characters mind and where we have reactions to what is happening in the plot line - but in this book nothing happens until the very end! Maeve is a likable enough character. I would have liked to have seen more of her besides the rambling - which is strange to say since she's the main character of the book. Dario is a bore. I think the biggest problem with the book is that Cathrine Spencer tells us what the personalities of the characters are and doesn't show us anything! Maeve is apparently shy and insecure - I didn't see that anywhere but that is why she has to be smothered and protected from Celeste - the most interesting character in the book by the way. Dario I don't understand or like at all, and I don't understand the doctors attitude. Over all I have to say that I don't plan to read a Cathrine Spenser book again - it's just a waste of time!

Appealing and realistic characters make The Costanzo Baby Secret an enjoyable summer read. Catherine Spencer has used a clever twist on the secret baby plot. In this story, the baby's mother doesn't know of his existence while the father does. Maeve Costanzo has amnesia after a serious car accident, and her husband Dario takes her to their house on an Italian island to recuperate. He has reason to wonder about the circumstances of the accident, but feels that the best thing for both of them and for their child is to give their fragile relationship another chance. With no recollection of their marriage and its problems, Maeve gives her heart to him, but he still fears what will happen when she recovers her memory. A charming story with a mature and satisfying resolution.
