A Father's Fortune book. A Father's Fortune (Clayton Family, ISBN. 0373245211 (ISBN13: 9780373245215). Ms Hailstock puts two characters together, each having plausible reasons for not getting involved with the other. The book fell down in the sex scenes, to be honest. Like, their need is supposed to be overwhelming, the physical literally setting a fire to their common sense and restraint.

I like the Fortunes of Texas series, so I had to read this book. This book was very well written and I have all of Shirley Rogers books and I enjoy them. I can't say that I enjoyed it all that much though. And my reasons are strictly personal-I HATE stories that revolve around a man not being told that he is a father. In this book Heather, in my opinion, is selfish in keeping the truth from Justin. So, if you enjoy this series and author than don't let my personal bias stop you from reading this book. I look forward to reading the next book-the story of Cameron's illegitimate son Jonas.

Apparently this is the re-issued version of the original book, noting that this one has a different cover. Glad that mine didn't have this cover, or else I'd be able to put 2 and 2 together by halfway through the story.

Going through my library of books (physical, not electronic) figuring out what to get rid of, I set some books aside that I knew were my favorites; the plan was to read them again to see if they were still "keepers" (haven't read them in at least a year). I just read this for the 3rd time and have to say that this is definitely still a keeper. Digger's character was kind of hard, but only emotionally hard, as can be expected with loss of a loved one. Erin was kind of sweet, but she seemed so young-minded and emotionally naïve. What did bother me about her was after the first incident with Sam, how she could be so careless as to leave the child unattended to get a man's attention? On top of that, why would she be risking climbing a ladder unnecessarily after her own accident?

The good thing about this story was that neither of them was written in a way that made them overly dramatic or emotional, or difficult to deal with as characters They both were looking to guard their hearts from being hurt, so they weren't expecting to fall in love and be loved in return. I really thought everyone in the story worked well together, the secondary characters fit perfectly. Overall story flowed well. I really liked Samantha Yvette Pierce, aka Sam, aka Sy. HEA ending, though I wish it had ended further into the future with more children involved.

Digger Clayton's past is filled with painful memories. An accident had robbed Erin Taylor of the future she dreamed of. They come together when Digger begins to work for Erin, they continue together to help one little girl...but is there enough between them to overcome their pasts and find a future?
Shirley Hailstock tells a story that is sure to touch your heart.

This was a very good and touching story about two people letting go of the past and moving on with their lives. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.

I truly enjoyed the Clayton series written by Shirley Hailstock. Each book made you feel a part of it and you never wanted it to end.
This was a very good book. The two main characters had painful pasts, and letting go of the pain was diffcult. But with the love they found the pain was mended. I enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.
