I have read numerous books lately in this (The complete Idiot’s guide books) series and found most of them very informative. I purchased this interesting and unique book (The complete idiot’s guide to extraterrestrial intelligence by Michael Kurland) on Amazon for a bargain price. This 325 page soft cover text is one of the best I have read on this topic. The writer clearly emphasizes the facts and truth about the subject matter. He does not fall into the trap that many writers of this genre do by being so open minded that you brains fall out.

This book is organized into five parts. Part one asks “Are we alone in the universe? Part two deals with the hypothesis “How early were the astronauts?” This section explores the so-called ancient astronauts’ hypothesis which is believed by some people. The third part covers weather balloons of the Gods. This section explains the various UFO, abduction incidents and other issues. This fourth part gives the scientific facts about this subject and is my favorite section. This section will turn off true believers but will be welcomed by the scientific minded. The final part explores the subject of extraterrestrial in popular culture. It mentions numerous movies, T.V. shows and other material that has influenced the belief in UFOs and extraterrestrial beings. The appendixes are also very interesting.

If you are seeking an honest, rational and scientific approach to this subject this is a must read book; however, if you are already a believer that aliens from other planets are here on earth abducting citizens through walls as they sleep, you probably will not like this book. Personally, I loved it.

I like the book, but on page 19 the author says that Mt. Shasta is in Washington. No, it is not. It's in Northern California. Ive' been there and hiked it. I was disappointed that the author did not mention the abduction account of Travis Walton, and the experiences of Billy Meier. The author also did not mention that it is believed that one alien survived the Roswell crash and was taken to Wright Patterson Air force Base.

I've read a lot of UFO books, but this one was by far the best. Providing info on Ancient astronauts I have never heard before that caused me to do google searches for more info. I have read a mess load of ancient astronaut books and most just regurgitate each other. this one has a ton of original material and some on stuff that has yet to be explored further. Like the pyramid they found 75' underwater near Japan. Check out some photos on Google, there is no way this was formed naturally, and no other explanation can be given.
