Thich Nhat Hanh has written so many books that it's difficult to believe that he can continue to produce fresh thoughts for readers on such a personal and meaningful level. Those new to Buddhism rarely think of prayer and Buddhism as synonymous, nor that it has a place in this philosophy or religion (this issue continues to be debated). Thay, as he is called, writes clearly and beautifully. He is inclusive of the whole of humanity and all that exists on our planet. Many tease about "touchy-feely" books, but this is not that. It is a thought-provoking introduction of the power of prayer from a Buddhist master and practitioner. Highly recommended.

I gave 5 stars because it fits in perfectly with my "No Doctrine" concept of Spirituality. TNH is a real, authentic Buddhist Monk. Anyway, If you want the Truth and you are a practicing Buddhist & a Christian, This is a fantastic book for me.

This is a wonderful book. It is filled with insight and wisdom. I read a passage every day. The words in this book speak to all people, and to all religions. Even atheists will find these words speak a universal truth. I often find myself thinking about the profound impact Thich Nhat Han has on my life. All I can say is a heartfelt "thank you" and pay his kindness forward.

I ran across this little treasure during a recent visit to my local Buddhist bookstore. Needless to say, I immediately began to read it and had a hard time putting it down. In my opinion, it is a well written summary of prayer, that can be applied and appreciated by every religious tradition or spiritual path. Thich Nhat Hanh hits the nail on the head every time he addresses an aspect of prayer that many people, even those with long spiritual tradition, may not be aware of. I not only much recommend this book as a "must" for spiritual literature -- no matter what religion or path one follows -- but also will use it with my students.

When I started this book had no preconceptions of what it should be but I thought it could be powerful. I don't pretend to be spiritually advanced but this book, but I felt drawn to it. It was exactly what I needed. This book provides a context that helped me understand meditation and prayer and why it's so important in our lives. I never felt lost in its spiritualness but I did feel welcomed by its tone, and enlightened by its content. I can't explainuch better than that what it meant for me, and I bet each reader will find a very personal powerful message that makes it so worth reading. I am better for reading this- what else could someone want?

I loved the book. Even if I have knowledge on prayers as per the Catholic and Buddhist practitioners I found the book inspiring and I learned something new.

Thich Nhat Hanh writes a wonderfully deep and simple explanation for prayer that crosses all lines of religion. Compared to the complex and dense theological explanations for prayer that only scratch the surface of what prayer is, he has explained a simple act to the core with bravado.
Very well written, what a deeply spiritual thought process. Very interesting and not at all in opposition to any Christian/mainstream religious beliefs.
