Redirecting Children's Behavior book. She is a lovely woman with a great energy about her. I knew her book would give the same feel.

This book teaches parents how to discipline their children by using many practical, effective and non-punitive techniques. The best part of all for me is that I now feel very good about myself as a parent. I've found that parenting from love instead of fear is far more effective, allows for better parent-child relationships and my children have healthier self-esteem.

Reviews about Redirecting Children's Behavior (7):

This book represents a very straightforward and sensible approach to parenting. It is not a system that must be followed exactly. For example, some of the mushy gushy stuff is a bit too corny for us, but at the same time we are willing to change our style from more authoritative to more democratic. There were a few suggestions which I could see backfiring. I don't recall the exact scenario but there are times where the book suggests you leave the decision up the child and I'm sure most children would not choose well.....

I have some of these suggestions already when my toughest kid was throwing tantrums and it definitely led to a better than usual outcome. Give kids choices, let them learn how to make decisions, and get over your need for control. You and your kids will benefit.

Exceptional concepts for raising children. I used it as a part of a RCB class I enrolled in. VERY easy to read and skim through. THe best book and reference guide for parenting and loving your children. I have bought almost 20 books on the subject and this is the best and most easy to reference one. It goes well with Mr Rogers parenting principles. If you are a frustrated parent of a child of any age - check this out. It'll make you a better human being and will help nurture your inner child.

Practical and organized advice. For example if child shows x behavior handle it y way. This information is share for various age ranges.
I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because in some places it reads more like 'this is the right way' to raise kids. If this book falls in line with your values you will love it. If it doesn't you may still find the practical recommendations very helpful.

Excellent resource for parents. If you are one of those parents who have relied on corporal punishment you really need to read and apply these parenting skills! We raised 5 children, House-parented 9 (at a time), and can speak from experience. VERY HELPFUL!

Both me and my husbund loved the book. I like that is written by a mother that dealt with this issues first hand. I also love that we gives out actual suggestiona, and yes, they work. I have a 3 year old and i found lots of answers here. There are also chapters dedicated to adolecents. The book has changed my life and parenting style. I would definetly recommend it

I am a school counselor, and am always looking for books to loan to parents. This is probably one of the BEST books ever written to help parents and teachers who have children with challenging behaviors. I've ordered more copies!!

I bought this for my granddaughter for her baby. She says it is so good, when she gets frustrated or starts questioning what she should do she goes to the book and finds the answer that helps the situation immensly.
This book gives clear, concise, and usable tools and techniques to use while raising children. I used it.
