In 1894, Lucien Pissarro established the Eragny Press, named after the Normandy village where his family lived.
Two of the Eragny Press books were the results of commissions from French bibliophile clubs. This history of the Eragny Press includes a discussion of the influences and artistic theories that are the basis for the Pissarros' books and provides a critical reassessment of their significance within the history of the English Arts and Crafts Private Press movement.

In 1897 the family moved to 62 Bath Road in Stamford Brook, Chiswick Pissarro associated with Walter Sickert in Fitzroy Street, and in 1906 became a member of the New English Art Club. From 1913 to 1919 he painted landscapes of Dorset, Westmorland, Devon, Essex, Surrey and Sussex. In 1916 Pissarro became a British citizen.
