I start my blacksmith lessons next week and tool making is the part of the trade that really interests me and this book gave simple, easy to understand directions on how to build the basic tools that will enable you to make more complex tools later. It nicely covers all the basic blacksmith tools, including how to temper them. The author gives suggestions on how to improvise many items needed to get started and how to find and use scrap metal to make inexpensive tools.

If you are a semi-experienced smith then this is probably not the book for you but if you are a beginner or a general handy-man then this may very well meet your needs.

Outstanding book on introduction to blacksmithing...Not only does it show you basic aspects of blacksmithing it also shows you how to make a lot of your own blacksmithing tools... This book is well worth adding to your collection of great blacksmithing how to books.

A friend had this book. I was glad to add it to my library. Good content and sketches.

Nothing a lot of other blacksmithing books don't cover unless you live in a third world country.

This book lives up to its title of being basic. It is very basic and is well suited to the raw beginner who is interested in fabricating some rudimentary tools.

It's calle Basic Blacksmithing and that is barely accomplished here. The explanations are incomplete, fragmented, and if the reader doesn't have extensive blacksmithing knowledge they will be lost. Such a waste of money. I'm embarassed I bought it.

As sais in the title this book provides some basic blacksmithing techniques. You'll find a lot of drawings showing the way to make the tools needed in your shop by using "scrap" metal.
A good initiation to metalworking but definitively not a book for the experimented blacksmith.
