“Three fine thinkers take us plunging into the universe of chaos, mind, and spirit. Instead of leaving us lost, they bring us back with startling insights and more wonder than we knew we had.” —Matthew Fox, Original Blessing and Sheer Joy

"A jam-session of the mind, an intellectual movable feast, an on-going conversation that began over twenty years ago and remains as lively and relevant today as it ever was. Sadly, Terence had to leave the conversation a little earlier than planned. But the appearance of this book of trialogues at this critical, historical juncture is a reaffirmation of the potency of the optimistic vision that the trialogues express." —Dennis McKenna, brother of the late Terence McKenna

Reviews about The Evolutionary Mind: Conversations on Science, Imagination and Spirit (7):
Mr.Champions
This is a fun meeting by three great minds who like to think outside the box. Rupert Sheldrake, the Cambridge biologist who broke with orthodox science and put forward his neo-Lamarkian principle of Morphogenic Fields. Terence McKenna ethnobotanist and psychonaut who suggested that plants are profoundly intelligent and can speak to us during psychedelic drug experiences. Ralph Abraham, a mathematician and also fellow psychonaut who has been a pioneer in the science of chaos theory. Together these three men rap ideas about a range of subjects including the eschaton or end times, which McKenna embarrassingly predicted would be in 2012; fractals and field attractors; psychedelic drug experiences; psychic or sixth sense abilities in animals and the nature of time. The ideas put forward are at times more metaphysical than scientific yet all three men remain remarkably grounded in their scientific understanding of the world. Central to all their concerns is the view that nature - including the greater cosmos - is not merely guided by random events but has inherent entelechy/purpose that is perhaps non-locally guiding it towards some final point or final chaotic attractor. I most strongly recommend this book to those of you who are not strongly materialistic or reductionist in terms of how we can understand nature as I suspect that strong reductionist materialist will only become frustrated and angry with some of the things said in this book.

It would have been great for the trialogues to continue, but since the passing of Terrance this is no longer the case. This was a great and interesting book of three intellectuals, full of engaging conversations with questions, answers, concepts, and insightful ideas. Well worth the read and a definite page turner. I could not put it down. This along with the previous book of Chaos, Creativity, and Cosmic Consciousness is a recommended read for any seeker of higher realization and insight to worldly, universal and fractal concepts.

maybe to listen to, not to read. it is literally transcribed conversations, although interesting material, not my favorite format
