The Heinemann collection illustrated in the book is vast and spans the period during which the studio glass movement underwent significant growth; pieces were purchased over the period 1984-2005, but many of the pieces are from the early periods of individual artists careers. This book is much more than a coffee table selection of photographs of studio glass (of which there are many).

Anyone who visits CMOG will see parts of the Heineman collection, but without reading this book they will have no idea of the size of the collection.

The history of the collection is discussed in detail, and then the works are presented by alphabetical order for each artist in the collection together with notes about the works. What makes this book unique is the description of the work of a large number of artists in a single volume. If I was going to recommend just one book on studio glass this would be it.

as a longtime studio-glass addict i am absolutely thrilled by the brilliant collection and its presentation in this book. Being dutch by origine I miss the dutch masters Copier, Meydam, Valkema and Heesen, but maybe I am too patriotic. What really copunts is the fact that this collection reflects the start and golden years of studio glass in all its glory. Thanks to the Heinemans and of course the Corning Museum with Tina Oldknow.
