The process of converting light energy into a meaningful image is a complex process that is facilitated by numerous brain structures and higher level cognitive processes. On an anatomical level, light energy first enters the eye through the cornea, where the light is bent

The Sixth European Conference on Eye Movement (ECEM-6), which was organized at the Laboratory of Experimental Psychology of the University of Leuven (September 15-18, 1991) generated the publication of two separate books. The present volume comprises a mixture of contemporary work in various areas of eye-movement research in perception and cognition. Other areas of eye-movement research, mainly physiological, will appear in a second book entitled Visual and Oculomotor Functions which will soon be published by the same two editors.
