In this book, Madeleine Leininger describes her passion for developing a unique theory of nursing. The reader is able to time-warp back to the 50s, 60s, and 70s and witness her journey, of fully living and researching in other cultures, in a bird's-eye view manner. This book gives the foundational understanding for her other book, Transcultural Nursing: Concepts, Theories, Research and Practice.

Excellent theory. I waited my entire Nursing career, 40 years, to find a nursing theory that I could believe in.

This is an excellent book outlining Leininger's theory of cultural care. It is a very important and necessary theory for nurses at this time in history. It also includes good imput from other nursing professionals dealing with cultural care. Deffinitely a great addition to any nursing professor's library.
