Описание: The field of community paediatrics continues to change and grow in importance, as more care is given in the community and the impact of the environment and public health issues on children's health and welfare are recognised.

Leon Polnay, British Child health educator, consultant. Recipient Travel fellowship Albert Einstein College of Medicine, 1988. Fellow Royal College of Physicians (examiner since 1984); member British Pediatric Association (assistant secretary since 1984, academic board 1985-1988), Working Parts Health Needs of School Age Children (chair since 1992).

Since 1976 developments in the training and services provided by general practitioners and community paediatricians have led to a series of changes in clinical services provided for children in the community. A series of studies carried out in the Clifton area of Nottingham from 1983 to 1999 illustrate this. This paper traces the history of community paediatrics in the UK from its roots in Public Health at the turn of the century to the present day. The service which started outside of health services has been part of the NHS since 1973. Specialist training has only recently been established starting in the early 1980s. Sir David Hull is a British paediatrician. David Dunger is paediatric endocrinologist and chair of paediatrics at the University of Cambridge.
