We propose a dynamic semantical analysis of Japanese zeros, . omission of noun phrases in Japanese sentences. The analysis incorporates circumstantial information into a dynamics of discourse information states and assumes that zeros are implicit arguments of underlying semantical predicates. We first examine uses of Japanese zeros to demonstrate that there are many instances of indexical and. demonstrative uses and a simple discourse pronoun assumption is not adequate to capture the entire range of zero phenomena.
