The author was in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania during 1964, and in Kenya in 1965, where he was engaged in field work. One of the purposes of his works was to clarify the climatic regionality in East Africa. Africa was divided into two regions: a region with a stable climate, and the other with an unstable climate, according to the frequency of humid and dry months in each year. It was concluded that the cause of such a heavy rainfall was because of the abnormal circulation in the tropics of Africa. Finally, an attempt was made to correlate the distribution of vegetation and the climatic characteristics.
East Africa or Eastern Africa is the eastern region of the African continent, variably defined by geography. In the United Nations Statistics Division scheme of geographic regions, 20 territories make up Eastern Africa: Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan are members of the East African Community (EAC). The first five are also included in the African Great Lakes region. Burundi and Rwanda are at times also considered to be part of Central Africa.
