The Preaching the Word series is a great collection of reference tools for laymen and pastors alike. I have enjoyed R. Kent Hughes writings for years. I think that they are especially useful for laymen as his writing is very practical and doesn't tend to use lots of "Greek" or long theological terms that laymen would not be familiar with. The chapters are not exceptionally long, but provide a good overview of the text in question. I would recommend any of the Preaching the Word Series for serious students of the Bible. 10 people found this helpful.
