Abstract: Resumo Este ensaio tece considerações sobre o romance de João Silvério Trevisan, Ana em Veneza, a partir da imagem do desterro e procura traçar as relações entre viagem e literatura dentro do esquema oferecido pelo romance de Trevisan. Os diálogos desse romance com a obra de Thomas Mann contribuem também para o questionamento filosófico da obra de arte, ao abordarem os temas da desilusão e da morte. Este trabalho procura concentrar-se principalmente nos sofrimentos da personagem Ana e no seu encontro com a personagem de Nepomuceno.
