Howard Roughan is an American author. He has two novels in print: The Up and Comer (2001) and The Promise of a Lie (2004). v. t. e. James Patterson.

James Patterson, Howard Roughan. Hence, the genocide we keep hearing about. But reading articles and a few books on the Janjaweed from the comfort of my couch in Manhattan was one thing. This was entirely another affair

James Patterson, Howard Roughan. This was entirely another affair. I turned to look over my shoulder, the cloud of dirt and dust flying in our wake making it hard to see anything.

James Brendan Patterson is an American author and philanthropist. In 1996 Patterson quit his advertising job to concentrate on writing. While continuing to work on the profitable Alex Cross series, he began to branch out into other literary genres, such as romance novels and historical fiction. For Miracle on the 17th Green, an inspirational story about a middle-aged golfer, Patterson undertook the practice of writing with a coauthor, and many of his subsequent novels were collaborations. By my count this is the 46th James Patterson book I have read.

Reviews about Don't Blink (7):
I'm an avid fan of both these authors. This was a fast paced mystery with deception, murder, the mob, bad politicians and cops. There's more to the story than first told. Don't trust anyone is a good way to describe this book. I loved all the characters and how all the different stories came together perfectly- its what keeps you turning the pages. There are no irritating "filler " pages. Just a really good interesting story that you just have to keep reading.
This was my first James Patterson novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The opening was graphic and I almost put the book down. However, once I was introduced to Nick Daniels in the first chapter, I found the story interesting and face paced.

James Patterson immerses you into the life of New York writer, Nick Daniels. After a near-escape from the Sudan, Nick is offered the writing assignment of a lifetime. But he soon discovers there's more going on than just an interview with a has-been Yankee pitcher. Interrupted by a gruesome murder, Nick discovers he has a vital piece of recorded evidence from the murder. Debating whether to tell the police, Nick weighs the ramifications of his decision, that could lead to retaliation.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found it an easy read, perfect for late night reading. Although not worth $14.99 for a Kindle version. (I purchased locally). That's more than the hardcover price ($14.00)!

All in all, I enjoyed the book and my Book rating Reflects the Quality of the Book, -- not the unfortunate pricing.
An interesting read chock full of unending action. I didn't see this ending coming. Totally surprised me. I'd read another book by this author. Enjoy!
I started with the "free" Kindle edition, a quote-book-unquote. That was annoying enough for me - not a book but the first chapter (shills) - getting what was advertised as a 'first book', then realizing it was no such thing. The story though, with a totally unrelated/irrelevant opener (do-gooder journalist runs from gunfire in the wilderness of a foreign country), a first-person narrative presenting yawn after yawn (could this guy get any more boring?), and unremarkable/hackneyed satellite characters, left me not only NOT wanting more, but wondering how on earth Patterson was persuaded to put his name on this. THAT is the real mystery. Two words sum this 'book' up: Don't bother.
I've read/listened to a lot of Patterson's books and to be honest I've grown tired of his "Alex Cross" stories. So I'm glad that he is developing some other characters. Don't Blink is a keeper. It tells a good and thrilling story, maintains a high degree of suspense throughout, and has a satisfactory ending. Is it a classic? Hardly, but it's very good solid entertainment, and certainly above average for Patterson's novels.

The only complaint I have is the audio reader (if you get the audiobook). He has this kind of wavering, gravelly voice that definitely takes some getting used to, and doesn't really seem to go with the characters that he is reading.
New York's Lombardo's Steak House is famous for three reasons - the menu, the clientele, and now, the gruesome murder of an infamous mob lawyer. Seated at a nearby table, reporter Nick Daniels accidentally captures a key piece of evidence that lands him in the middle of an all-out war between Italian and Russian mafia forces.

James Patterson grinds out yet another wonderfully suspensful murder mystery that keeps you spellbound from the first page to the last. This was a really fast reading book, as are most of James Patterson's adult mysteries. It was a real page turner, difficult to put down.
While I can't say this is one of Patterson's best (I like his Cross and Bennett books), it was an easy read, suspenseful at times, romantic at times, and gory a couple of times. I definitely would not call it a thriller as it did not thrill me or excite me. Although it held my interest, it was not a page-turner. It was simply written, repetitive at times, with only fair dialogue. There were several twists and turns which helped pick up the pace at times. I'm not sorry I read this book, but it was not one of the great Patterson books. The Kindle version was well-formatted with no errors that I noticed.
I enjoy suspenseful novels. And this one certainly was. From beginning to end, I didn't want to put it down. I actually finished it in a week. But if I had had the time, I would have been done in 2 days. Yes, it was that good. Highly recommend!!!
