Franklin Russell was a B613 Agent. Actually, his name is Franklin, as in Franklin Russell. Olivia is surprised he gave her a fake name when she picked him up in the bar. Of course, she introduced herself as Alex. Jake followed Tom Larsen and learnt that he was in cahoots with Russell, who was behind the initiation of Lazarus 1. Jake eventually put the pieces together and figured out that Russell was the one who killed Elise

Without becoming at all anthropomorphic, Russell focuses on these three animals' right to exist.

315 pp. New York: Reader's Digest Press. The protagonists of the book are a baboon, a leopard and a lion, strays from the surrounding territory, who use the rocky oasis as a temporary refuge. Without becoming at all anthropomorphic, Russell focuses on these three animals' right to exist. His book sings, roars, buzzes and pulses with the primeval rhythms of life and death.

Music by Franklin Russell. Pianist, trumpeter, harmonica singer, band leader. This is my good friend I adopted in 2011 she passed away in 2018 on February 1 on the Blue moon. I'm so incredibly heart broken. I have some good memories of her, I believe she was 18+ years pretty good for a doo.

The Franklin's Tale" (Middle English: The Frankeleyns Tale) is one of The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. It focuses on issues of providence, truth, generosity and gentillesse in human relationships. A medieval franklin was someone who did not have noble status, and this pilgrim's words when interrupting the Squire are often seen as displaying his sense of an inferior social status.

Reviews about Season on the Plain (4):
This book is a dynamic mastery of nature storytelling. I thought it was going to have photos like most nature books, but I was quite surprised to find that there weren't. But I guess that doesn't really matter. The cover and vivid narration is a illustration in itself.
I just finished reading the book Season on the Plain by Franklin Russell
recommended by our safari leader. I encourage you all to read it. It is
so well written with an amazing integration of unusual perspective (there are no
humans in this book) and comprehensive understanding of the interconnectivity of
life on the east African plain and woodlands. Throughout the reading, you will
feel as though you have been transported to the plain as you develop a detailed
understanding of its creatures, vegetation, and weather. It is a quick read. I
plan to re-read this again just before I leave on safari.
The book: a very unusual book - entirely without people. This is a fictional account of life on the East African plain, based on good scientific research, and with a few main 'characters' such as an old male lion, a female hyaena with a litter, a male leopard and a baboon split from his troop. Linked to these are sub-stories about many other species, prey or parasite or both, from elephants to viruses, ants, hunting dogs and tsetse. In one cycle of season, the dry and the wet, we see parts of the lives of these animals and their interactions.

The author: Franklin Russell was born in New Zealand, worked in WEngland for a while as free-lance writer, emigrated to Canada, and settled in the USA in 1962. He has written a series of books on wildlife, including Watchers at the Pond.

My opinion: a great book - no 'humanizing' of animals, and still exciting and fascinating. The interactions of animal (and some plant) species on the East African plains are really well described, as are the interactions with landscape, weather and disease; good on behaviour and social structure, and still very readable. I have read this a couple of times and will keep it for more re-readings; not one I read every three years, but definitely a keeper!
Beautiful writing and a lovely return visit to the African plain.
