If you thought you don't like poetry, give this a try. If you like poetry, this is a must read. It's no accident that Robert Frost is considered the greatest American poet. I'm hardly a big fan of poetry, but Frost is truly special and I was curious after I read a review. Such are the dangers of reading Amazon reviews and being able to buy books cheap on Ebay if they don't come on Kindle or related ilk. Probably part of Frost's appeal is that he speaks to us about what America has been and is. Anyway, I mostly loved it but wish I had a primer to be sure I knew what some of it was saying. It might help if I'd stayed awake during my college course that covered poetry, but then again that included things it must take an English major to love. What I think are his best poems have a spirit and feeling that is hard to miss.

Gave this as a gift and it was well received. Lovely binding.

This is a nice little volume. Hard cover, nice font.
If all the Frost poems you have read have been in anthologies, you're almost certain to enjoy the others. Frost has wonderful dialogue poems, in which the speakers come to life. And there's quite a bit of mischievous humor. Frost is an accessible poet who can be enjoyed by sophisticates and unsophisticates alike.
This is a reader's edition. No scholarly apparatus, no notes --- just an index of first lines.

Great book of Frost's early poems.

My exposure to poetry is relatively limited and mostly from high school English classes. This book was my first experience with a large collection of a singular poet’s work. “Robert Frost: Selected Poems” is divided into three volumes of poetry (“A Boy’s Will,” “North of Boston,” and “Mountain Interval”) with a collection of miscellaneous poems at the end. This combination provides the reader with an accurate depiction of Frost’s versatility as a poet and writer. The style of the first and third collections is what I associate with poetry: distinct stanzas, rhyme schemes, and no more than three pages (at most). In the second collection Frost strays from that format, writing with an almost prose feel. The poems in the second collection are also much longer, telling stories that span five to six pages. Finally, the miscellaneous collection is a mix of Frost’s earliest works. Although the length and style changes poem to poem, Frost’s recurrent use of vivid imagery and figurative language ties them together. For example, in “Now Close the Windows” Frost carefully employs diction and visual imagery to create a distinctly somber yet resolute mood in only eight lines. The speaker notes, “It will be long ere the marshes resume / It will be long ere the earliest bird.” These comments tell the reader that winter is arriving, and with it comes desolateness and dormancy. This theme is furthered by the speaker’s final command: “So close the windows and not hear the wind, / But see all wind-stirred.”
