In the following contribution I will engage in a diachronical reading of Lactantius’ work with. particular attention paid to three themes found within each: 1) the proximity of the end of the world; 2) the use of monarchy as an example of monotheism; and 3) the assessment of Licinius, who shifts from being Constantine’s ally to being his opponent.
