This is the second volume of the Empirical Metallogeny set (Volume 1 published by Elsevier in 1985) devoted to all lithologic associations of Precambrian age and their metallic deposits. The Precambrian terranes of the world are classified into the most logical, natural divisions that are directly recognizable (mappable) in the field, and ore occurrences are treated as a part of the petrological system.

After the introductory chapter, the systematic part contains nine chapters devoted to ores in the greenstone, shale-litharenite, "rift", diverse (meta)sediments, granitoids, mafic and alkaline magmatites, high-grade metamorphics, and meteorites/terrestrial impact associations, respectively.

The book has been written for applied (e.g. exploration) and government geologists, and it also provides a factual base for the academic research in global, regional and lithotope metallogeny, economic geology, and Precambrian geology. It includes a hierarchical system of subject directories, four indexes, 94 tables, 560 figures with many photographs.
