Reviews about Accounting and Reporting: Taxation, Managerial, Governmental, and Not-For-Profit Organizations, Wiley CPA Examination Review, 1999 Edition (7):

This product is great if you use it to answer multiple choice questions and simulations. There is a lot of information on each topic that it can get overwhelming, but use it to answer questions and study the journal entries. The explanations are written well enough to understand the topics if you can study by yourself. It is perfect to supplement this book with any CPA course.

The format of this CPA exam review set is designed better than the other programs that I have seen (Gleim, Kaplan, Barron's) and provides more comprehensive and all-encompassing exposure to the material that you will see on the four sections of the exam. Most other review sets only contain multiple-choice questions, full-length practice exams, and/or short dissertations on the various subjects. That is not enough to sufficiently prepare you for the various subjects and question formats that you will see when taking the exam.
In these books, the subjects are organized logically into modules, and in each module you will see outlines and detailed reviews of the subject matter, followed by multiple-choice, sets of "matching" or similarly formatted questions, and essay questions, complete with detailed answers and analysis to each and every question. Even though those questions taken from actual exams are somewhat older, the practice questions given in these books are very close to what you will see in "battle" conditions. Also, with the CPA Exam becoming computerized in the next couple years, Wiley now offers the CD-ROM version of this review program.
Bottom line, if you are truly committed to passing this exam, you should buy this 4-volume set of review books from Wiley. I should know. I bought the 2000 version, followed Delaney's suggestions, and passed all four parts of the exam in my first attempt last November, by sizable margins.

This authoritative work has the usual plus points of any Wiley CPA Exam Review guides. But the most interesting and useful aspect with this particular review (ARE - 2001 edition) is that it is fully updated for
a) The tax law changes for the tax year 2000 which will be tested for the May & Nov 2001 exams !
b) It contains the new GASB pronouncements applicable for Government and Not for Profit Organizations which are to be TESTED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MAY 2001 EXAMS.
More than a mere descriptive write up of the new pronouncements, the authors have also made significant efforts to develop typical objective type questions which any student appearing for May 2001 exams will find it EXTREMELY USEFUL.
I strongly recommend this book for every student taking up ARE paper of CPA Exams in May 2001.

The book is most helpful in the preparation for the CPA Exams. The sequencing of topics make it easy for students/reviewers to internalize principles and learn gradually as well. The answers with explanation at the end of every module provides relevant information for readers. At some point, CPA reviewers tend to appreciate more the explanation in every module than the answer itself.
The book is highly commendable. I recommend the 4 volume Wiley CPA Examination Review for future CPAs. It has worked for me and it can work for you as well.

I really enjoy reading these books, and I found very helpful for me. I advise whoever is going for the CPA to look at least at one of the books. You may find it conflicting but when you know how are these books structured, you will enjoy reading them. By the way I think I am going to buy the CD Rom of these Books (Soled separately)

Depending on your knowledge level in this subject area, these guides are loaded with lots of relevant information but it can be a bit intimidating at first. However, good study aid for the more senior knowledge level person.

This is a compliment as Volume 1. You must thoroughly practise the exam questions before you go for the exam. Prior task for going to the exam is to practise the questions..!
after reading this book my search for excellence ends.
