The Alzheimer's disease biomarkers are neurochemical indicators used to assess the risk or presence of the disease. The biomarkers can be used to diagnose Alzheimer's disease (AD) in a very early stage, but they also provide objective and reliable measures of disease progress. It is imperative to diagnose AD disease as soon as possible, because neuropathologic changes of AD precede the symptoms by years.

For intravital diagnosis of the expression of signaling molecules - AD markers, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and peripheral tissues are used: lymphocytes and blood platelets, buccal and olfactory epithelium, skin fibroblasts. There are several changes in the production of hyper phosphorylated form of τ-protein, BACE1 and peptide Аβ42 in CSF in case of AD, but CSF taking may have a number of side effects. Less traumatic taking of sampling tissues for the diagnosis of AD is in use of epithelium.

In Alzheimer's disease (AD), there is a progressive loss of neurons in specific areas of the brain along with the presence of an increased number of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. Laminin levels have been shown to be increased in injury, so we undertook to examine levels of laminin by radioimmunoassay (RIA), in cerebrospinal fluid and serum of patients with AD and age-matched controls. No difference in the CSF and serum laminin concentrations was found between Alzheimer's disease and age-matched controls.
