by Prof Michael Frame,Nathan Cohen
Michael Frame, Nathan Cohen. This is a collection of articles, many written by people who worked with Mandelbrot, memorializing the remarkable breadth and depth of his work in science and the arts.
Michael Frame, Nathan Cohen. Contributors include mathematicians, physicists, biologists, economists, and engineers, as expected; and also artists, musicians, teachers, an historian, an architect, a filmmaker, and a comic. Some articles are quite technical, others entirely descriptive. All include stories about Benoit.

Benoit Mandelbrot, recently deceased French and American mathematician, was born in Warsaw in 1924. in the vernacular realm can aid historians in understanding the dynamics of science in American life. In 1936 he and his family fled the Nazis and in France joined his uncle Szolem Mandelbrojt, professor of mathematics at Collège de France. After attending Ecole Polytechnique, he studied linguistics and proved Zipf's law. He was an extremely original scientist who with the invention of fractals created a new concept with applications in numerous fields of science and art. His unconventional approach was well accepted when he came to IBM in 1958.

This book collects essays about fractal's role in mathematics and science education. Some Reasons for the Effectiveness of Fractals in Mathematics Education by Benoit B Mandelbrot Michael Frame. The next twelve chapters are invited case studies authored by educators who began years ago to use fractal geometry in classes that range from second grade elementary school, through public and private high schools, to state universities and private colleges. Some contributors survey literature and software they have used, others present detailed sample lessons.
