HISTORICAL GEOLOGY: EVOLUTION OF EARTH AND LIFE THROUGH TIME, THIRD EDITION, teaches students the basic principles of the physical and biological events of Earth's history, as well as how scientists apply these principles to unravel the history of Earth. Authors Wicander and Monroe present a balanced overview of both the geological and biological history of the Earth as a continuum of inter-related events. These events reflect the underlying principles and processes that have shaped our planet. The authors also explain the historical development of these basic principles and processes, and their importance in deciphering the history of Earth. Three major themes - time, evolutionary theory, and plate tectonics - are woven throughout the book. These themes help readers link what may seem like unrelated material and are essential for understanding historical geology. Included with every new copy of this edition is In-TERRA-Active™ 2.0 CD-ROM.

The seller was prompt in getting this book out, and I am pleased. And the price was excellent too.
I don't get to be in this class, but I love the book anyway. I enjoy reading it, and will get into the class next time it is offered. After all, I do have the book...

Book in excellent condition,as they said it is. I am very pleased with my purchase. of this textbook. I am a Geology major, and just starting my journey. I do not believe I get the most out of online text, and need to start compiling my bookself. I was not going to pay over $200 for the 7th edition, so my instructor said to get the 6th ed, since she does not teach or assign out of the book. I feel that this book is a bargain for the price.

good history book. Pictures make you wonder what it was like back then. I'd buy it again, if I needed it. Have book on shelf.

I felt the book covered the material very well. I enjoyed the wonderful pictures and graphs. Geology is a wonderful science.
I realize that this isn't the latest edition of this book (my professor said we could use either so I opted for the cheaper of the two,) so this review may very well not apply to the current or future editions.

The content of this book is relatively easy to read and seems legit (not being a geologist I can't judge too harshly,) but I've found this books index to be insufficient. There have been several recurring terms that I've been unclear on, so I went to the back of the book and checked the glossary... not there... Index?... Not there either?! This is a minor frustration due to google, but a frustration nonetheless.
