Kind of rambling and a bit disjointed, I was pretty disappointed. If it had been available in the library I would have borrowed it and then likely would not have purchased. At some point will donate to the local library just for that reason. Not exactly a waste of time, but not as well written or substantial as I had hoped for.

thank you

Although it was published in 1983 and some of the information is dated, this is a delightful exploration of the history and science of wind and atmosphere. I first heard of this title when I read Michael Ondaatje's "The English Patient." In both book and film, there is a scene where winds of the world are discussed. Winds have names and characteristics and are responded to variously throughout history and location. Ondaatje credits his discussion of winds to Lyall Watson's "Heaven's Breath." There is a glossary of winds in the back of this book as well as notes, bibliography, and references. Delightful reading. I look forward to boring total strangers with my new-found knowledge of ghibli, haboob, sirocco, steppenwind, sumatra, tezcatlipoca, willy-nilly, and zephyr.
