I bought this book thinking it would be a great gift for older relatives, but ended up loving it myself. There are many activities in the book to test your memory and try out the techniques. I especially liked the section on remembering people's names. This is a great book for anyone wanting to improve his/her memory.

This is a very fun book. Who doesn't wish their memory was better? The illustrations are vivid and applicable to the exercises. It is a great cross between a self-help and coffee table book. I have purchased it for several of my older relatives who have really enjoyed it.

Once again here's a fabulous book that will help you in boosting your memory and get better at remembering things.

The book is divided in eight chapters which will highlight various aspects of boosting your memory. Here's an idea of the table of contents;
1.You are what your remember: what is memory and how it works, why do we forget, exercises to show why we forget, can we improve the memory, and more.
2.Gone in a few blinks of the eye (short-term memory): how well do you remember the recent past, what is short-term memory, exercises for concentration, and more.
3.Imprinting it on your mind (long-term memory): how well do you remember the past, what is long-term memory, how to boost your memory of past events, and exercises.
4.Leaving a vivid impression on your mind (Imagination and memory): what's your imagination like. how visualization help, Link System technique, Journey Method, and exercises.
5.Creating an orderly cabinet of memories (organization and memory): how organized is your mind, how orderly mind help boosting your memory, Peg System, Mind Webs, and more.
6.Remembering names and faces: how well do you remember names and faces, 3-Step Memory Booster, exercises.
7.Remembering numbers: do you have a head for numbers, Number-Association System, exercises.
8.Optimizing your body and mind (health and memory): Does age affect memory,how to manage stress, importance of sleep, foods that sharpen your thinking, exercises to jog the memory.

As you can see there is a multitude of interesting subjects for anyone in this book. Personally, I have issues in remembering names when I am in a situation where I meet numerous people. I am hoping that the exercises included in this book will help me retain the names easily for the next time I meet with them. Another issue I have at this point in time is linked to my past. Somehow, I don't recall much of it and I suspect I might have long-term memory issues from when I was younger. I don't know the reasons why this is happening but I find it interesting that up to a certain point I can't recall anything.

Inside the book there is a tons of interesting tidbits of information as well. For example, did you know that when you listen to music while reviewing for an exam, you are doing two things at the same time which means you are dividing your attention between music and the material you are trying to learn. So you have less attention available for memorizing, which is likely to lead to poorer recall during the exam. It is therefore better to study in a quiet environment. If you miss the soothing effect of music, it is suggested to listen to music without lyrics, which is less likely to grab and divide your attention. I find this fascinating and never really made the link between the two before.

This book can be beneficial for students and adults. It has enormous potential in stretching your memory to the point that you will surprise even yourself after you have gone some of the exercises. If you want to boost your memory in 2013, I suggest that you check out Max Your Memory next time you go to a book store.

It's been 2-3 years since I've read it, but I am still using the methods in this book to remember things and numbers. Highly highly recommended. It is an easy read and has many very practical take-aways.

I bought two copies of this, one for my mother who is slowly recovering from a serious concussion and one for my father (my grandmother suffered from dementia). Neither one has received it yet, because my 6 year old and I have been too interested in it. My son loves the challenge of the activities - they are like brain teasers to him. I like to think that I can improve on remembering people's names or situations, or even recalling what my child wore to school that day. I think the mental exercises are good for any person at any point in their memory development.
This book provides an easy to follow, interesting, and innovative memory program helpful to people of all ages. I have found the techniques to be accessible and entertaining. A must read for anyone wanting to increase their memory.
