This is an interesting games collection. It is a collection of games that won the brilliancy prize at the U.S. Championships over a period of 20 years. So it is a rather impressive array of beautiful attacking games that you have the opportunity to go through here. The annotations are well done overall, with fairly dense analysis at times, and a fairly good amount of verbal explanations. A disappointment for me was that I bought this book based on its title thinking that it would be instruction on how to win technically 'won' positions. So I was surprised to see that it is almost the opposite end of the spectrum of 'how to win brilliantly'. I think the book is thus misnamed, but it still is a satisfyingly annotated collection of brilliantly won games.

The Kindle version is badly flawed.

What could be figurine or regular algebraic is incomplete. There is no piece designation. No figure or letter. Looks a bit like this: ?b3 or ?e1.

This bothers me because Danny Kopec is a very capable chess writer.

I gave it one star because of the quality control.
