Blackjack for the Clueless book.

Craps for the Clueless is trying to go way, way, way back to the very essence of what craps is all about. 2. Knowledge of the Game: You must be perfect in understanding everything about the game you are playing, in this case, craps. It is aimed at the gambling neophyte who needs to have the game laid out in terms that even a four-year-old could understand. Don't think for one second that I am saying that the millions of craps players now standing at the tables know everything about the game, because they don't. This knowledge will help you avoid bad bets and increase your chance of winning by holding down losses.

For both the neophyte casino visitor and the blackjack player who has been a consistent loser, this book offers .

BLACKJACK FOR THE CLUELESS (one of the publisher's series of "Clueless" guides) met with moderate success until the publisher filed bankruptcy and was sold to another company. Fact is, I never began writing about casino gaming to make tons of money. In truth, I made more money in three hours at a blackjack table at Treasure Island in Las Vegas than I've made from five books written in the last twelve years - and I used my progressive betting system to do it! But, to your original point, your success as a card counter is admirable.

Reviews about Blackjack for the Clueless: A Beginner's Guide to Playing and Winning (The Clueless Guides) (4):

I haven't read too many books on blackjack, but Blackjack for the Clueless was not very good. In a book of about 150 pages, there was maybe about 5 pages of useful information. The book does give an overview of blackjack and strategy (money management, basic strategy, card counting, etc.) plus some random quotes/stories--which weren't that funny or entertaining--and advice on planning your trip (and even discussed what clothes you should wear and lists every casino in the US (10 pages worth of filler material)). Even if you are a new player, I am sure that you can find a better book to get you going. As for the other glowing reviews, I have no idea how they came to their conclusions. Maybe they read a different book?

I noticed that the cover image shows a different author than Amazon displays. The author of the version I read was Walter Thomason (1998).

I picked up this book in anticipation of heading off to Nevada for vacation, and wow it really does lay it all out and explains everything in simple to understand jargon. I'm glad I started with it. I've been practicing playing over and over, and I'm pleased to report that (on paper) I am thousands of dollars ahead. The dealer I'm playing with (my hubby) is threatening to bar me from the casino (the breakfast room)!

I'm a novice blackjack player and have read 2 other books about the game, but found this book to be much easier to understand and much more fun to read. The author seems to really know his stuff!
