Europe at War 1939–1945: No Simple Victory is a history book about World War II in Europe, written by the English historian Norman Davies. Published sixty years after World War II, Davies argues that a number of misconceptions about the war are still common and then sets out to address them.

Krigsdagböcker 1939–1945. Translated from the Swedish by Sarah Death. For us children in Sweden it soon started to feel like a normal state of affairs, almost a natural state, for all those around us to be at war. We took it for granted that our country had somehow secured guarantees not to be involved, and it was constantly being stressed to us: No, no, don’t be scared, the war won’t be coming to Sweden.

Carriers at War 1939-1945 by Adrian Stewart, Published by Pen & Sword ISBN9781781591567. The dawn of a new age in naval warfare arrived in the early part of the 20th century when rudimentary aircraft were able to get airborne from vessels such as the USS Birmingham, the French TB tender Foudre, HMS Hibernia, HMS Campania and finally HMS Furious. The book has a Bibliography that only seems to list secondary sources! I was surprised that both David Hobbs & Peter Smiths excellent books on the British Pacific Fleet (BPF) were absent from the bibliography, and given that that the BPF is discussed in the final chapter, there absence is more worrying.
