An excellent book to inspire learning about the history of blacks in America, Still I Rise also features an informative introduction by Johnson, who is himself a cartoonist. This is such a great depiction of African American history. From Library Journal. I loved the writing, it was engaging and entertaining, never failing to show blacks in a good light. It's easy to tell though, that the new ending that references modern events was not written by the same person.
