If you are a woman in your late thirties or forties and are experiencing mood swings, free-floating anxiety, memory lapses, inability to concentrate, sleep disturbances...it is not all in your head, and you are not alone. This compassionate and comprehensive book covers everything you need to know about perimenopause -- the changes that occur in the decade before menopause -- including: How much of what you're feeling is due to fluctuating levels of estrogen. Menopause, by contrast, corresponds to a lack of estrogen. Knowing the difference is crucial to getting the right treatment. This book includes the most effective medical therapies and natural remedies and reveals why low-dose birth-control pills are the best cycle regulators: myths and realities, what you can do about missing periods, gushing periods, and periods that seem never to end, how to avoid hysterectomy and D&C, how you can prevent weight gain during perimenopause and ways to reignite your sex drive.Addressing women's most ommon concerns about perimenopause, as well as many questions women tend to be afraid to ask their doctors, Could It Be...Perimenopause? provides the facts you need to make smart decisions, and enables you to understand and feel in control of the changes taking place in your body.

This book explained it all. I found out I've been in perimenopause for probably 7 years now and didn't know it. I kept up my GYN appts. once a year, and when I would mention night sweats years ago, she's tell me it was too soon.
The forgetfulness really had me wondering. I had just lost my mother in April 2009 and she had suffered toward the end with dementia. I kept thinking I was just over stressed taking care of her and dad and my husband. Trying to be a grandmom, wife, mother and caregiver and working full time. I would take a walk and think to myself that the old line was teenagers think they know everything. I thought, maybe they do. I know I was a lot quicker with figures, etc. when I was in my teens and twentys. Now, thanks to this book, it all makes sense. I may not like the whole aging process, heck, taking care of everyone, I've really had it "jambed down my throat, the good, the bad, and the ugly of it". But, at least, I have a "reason" for it. Oh, and I'm 49 years old. I'll be 50 in June 2010. It isn't too early. Now, I'm going to find a new GYN that actually listens to me and takes me serious. My regular physician ran my bloodwork upon request after I got this book, and shazam, batman, my hormones are all over the place.
I wished I'd gotten this book 5 years ago.

Best, easy read book on perimenopause. Saved my sanity to understand that all was within the "normal" range for this second stage puberty.

I really wasn't sure about this book just based on the cover. Boy was glad I changed my mind and purchased it! Like another reviewer I've read several books on the subject of perimenopause. None can compare to COULD IT BE...PERIMENOPAUSE? Dr. Goldstein has provided such a great service to those of us who are wondering what the heck is going on with our bodies and minds during this sometimes trying time. One of the sections that I was so glad to read is about dealing with symptons in a natural way. He asks, "Do you really want it natural or safe?" Dr. Goldstein brings up great points in answering this question. I realized what I wanted was safe and if at all possible natural. If anyone is contemplating surgery, get a copy of this book and read the section about this subject. It is very important and a REAL eye opener. I wish I had this book before I had surgery. This book really educates you and prepares you to ask more questions when visiting your OB/GYN.

This book is a much needed read for all women of a certain age. There is so much written about menopause and that is the end stage without as many symptoms. This book is easy to read and learn that all those things that have been going on with your mind and body are really because of perimenopause. Do yourself a favor and buy this book!! As usual great price on Amazon.com.
