Although short (100+ pages), it was extremely insightful, for me. Even though I knew a lot of what was mentioned, I was fascinated by the chapters that I didn't know.

Reviews about Power Over Panic: Freedom from Panic-Anxiety Related Disorders, 2nd Edition (7):

This is a very brief book(let) on panic disorder. It presents some basic facts and recommends the practice of meditation, which is good advice. The content is good but sparse. The book is skimpy on details and way overpriced.

I have suffered from Panic Attacks for about 12 years. They first started when my Father died (12 years ago). Like others, the first time is probably the worse since you have no idea what is going on.
Even though you become somewhat educated in your problem, the attacks seem to be just as frightening. You know they are "attacks" and that you are not going to die, but your mind still believes you may...and the vicious cycle starts all over.
I have been to therapy a few times for this with minimal results. The attacks seemed to have subsided over the last few years, but the death of my Mother (6 months ago) has brought them back.
I purchased this book while looking through the Internet; researching again on how I can get relief from these attacks. I came across the Web site on Bronwyn Fox and liked what I read so I ordered the book.
Although short (100+ pages), it was extremely insightful, for me. Even though I knew a lot of what was mentioned, I was fascinated by the chapters that I didn't know. I would love to mention all of the eye-opening parts I read, but it would be too long to mention. But a small example of items would be:
Dissociation & derealization - I knew I had experienced these things many times and although a little frightening, just out of shear repetition, I learned to live with it, without knowing what it was. Now I find out that it has a lot to do with my condition and can even control it.
Also, the term of "anticipatory anxiety". This is the fear of having an attack while meeting some social commitment. Do I ever suffer from that. She briefly talks about how to deal with that and the very next night, I was having this kind of attack and remembered what she wrote and the attack subsided quickly.
I intend on reading this book several more times and have since ordered the CD's and DVD's from her site. I actually feel better after reading this book and feel it was well worth it.

I have purchased many books on panic and anxiety for agoraphobia and this book is by far the best. If your going to purchase a book on these disorders I cannot advise you strongly enough to purchase this one book. It has insight into panic and anxiety unlike any of the other books on the same subject. It has the very latest findings on panic and anxiety and has compassion for those with these disorders.

I discovered this book when my attacks were crippling, occurring on and off all day long for about 12 months. Over the course of the next two years I read and re-read this book and practised the recommended exercises and the attacks eventually went away. I remember the moment when I suddenly realised I had been free of attacks for 6 months and realised I had my life back. 10 years on and I still get the occasional attack, maybe once or twice a year. But with the knowledge I gained from this book, I am no longer fearful about it and it lasts just a few minutes. So, thank you Bronwyn from the bottom of my heart.

One out of every ten people in the modern world, regardless of age, gender, nationality, education, or socioeconomic background, suffers from some type of anxiety or panic disorder. I'm one of them. And I know what a struggle living with this condition is. But no more. With a straight-to-the-point language, tons of knowledge that comes from personal experience, thorough explanations of symptoms and causes, and above all, the compassion that can only come form an "ex-sufferer", Bronwyn Fox displays with words the road to not just recovery, but "total" recovery. And the most wonderful effect that this book has on you is that, after reading it, it leaves you with the feeling that, although you thought for a good period of your life that you would never recover, recovery is actually rather simple, and that your illness is not such a big deal after all. It really isn't, you just have the wrong points of view and the wrong approaches to certain thoughts, that's all. This book will teach you how to change those views, and after that happens, you'll be free once again. For the price, it beats the heck out of paying $150 for an hour with a therapist who cannot relate to what you're going through, and above all, doesn't really care what you're going through.

I have read many books concerning anxiety and panic but this one is truly a fresh and remarkable approach to healing. It has been enormously helpful and has taught me many new things, particularly the approach to meditation and a new way of looking at this frightening disorder. I strongly recommend anyone who suffers with anxiety/panic/depression to order this book immidiately. I can now say that I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I have Bronwyn Fox's brilliant book to thank for it!

I have a 16 year old daughter who suffers from panic disorder. I read this book first and then passed it on to her. It is a simple read that took a few hours to get through.

It explains subject matter in an easy to understand format. It is also a very positive read and should give the reader hope and some understanding.
