I bought this book for my son who is training for football and he told me I wasted my money. His exact words used was that the book is a rip off. The entire contents of Chapters 2 and 3 are missing. Most of the information is repeated throughout the other chapters of the book.

This whole "book" looks like it was thrown together in about 30 minutes using Microsoft Word, but the more serious problem is that two of the chapters are blank! Chapter 2, "The Benefits of Working Your Arms Everyday", and Chapter 3, "The Benefits of Doing Multiple Sets of an Exercise", have no text other than those chapter titles.

Smokin' hot guns is a great read and excellent introduction to weight training. I didn't know much about starting a program prior to reading, and this book does a good job of not just giving a list of exercises but explaining when and why to do each. It approaches the process of getting into a routine from all angles, and provided me with all the background information and science without losing me in endless details and technical jargon. The program is setup just as advertised, taking next to no time to complete, and so far I am seeing results far better than any of my attempts at getting fit in the past. Not sure why those negative reviews are here, the book does a good job of bringing together all the information you need and setting you up with a great workout routine, the easy-to-digest content and explanations are better than any other book I've read and made the purchase well worth it for me. I think everyone regardless of experience level will gain something from the book.

Recommended to anyone looking to get their guns in the new year!

I got hooked on this book for the title "one workout a week". I am a busy man with lots of appointments everyday. I couldn't even spare an hour a day going to gym. I would like to see if this book could bring help to me.

This book goes into very details of weight training. It tells you how to do various exercises and why in a convincing way. The idea is that you don't need quantity, quality matters. As long as you follow the most efficient way to workout, you can see the progress rapidly. The routine Trainer X provides is one of this kind, very powerful and effective, it fits my busy schedule and should fit most busy people's. There is no BS, everything is straight to the point.

If you have "better body shape" or "stronger arms" or the like on your list of new year resolutions, it is time to pick up this book. Turn the commonly broken resolution into an achievement!

Although the training methodology is competely valid, It does not mention that it is based on the same philosophy as HIT training. 1 Set to failure per muscle group in the (6-8) rep range spaced apart from 96-120 hrs based on Mike Mentzer. Trainer X reccomends to start with a week of rest between sets. I've done HIT before as in the HIT book authored by Mr. Mentzer and it worked wonderfully. However I noticed my gains halting. The immediate HIT solution is that you are NOT giving yourself enough recovery time and you must EXTEND the recovery period. So that is what I did and I ended up lifting LESS than before. Perhaps there is a very SMALL window when my strength would have allowed MORE weight and blew it? I don't know. But I seem to be getting GREAT results with FULL body training outlined in HUGE IN A HURRY. In that book it explains the failures of the HIT methodology. Although I remain a skeptic, I do believe that others can utilize HIT and get some results consistently. Its just that my body responds to a full body approach.

Solid methodology and workout routines; muscle reps that have been tested; clear concise language; straight talking no BS guide. What more can I say? Trainer X gives a very detailed plan on how to achieve, you know, muscles! It will also help you discover what your own muscle tolerance is. All in all, a decent book!
Rexfire
Really? Is that a man's or women's arm on the cover? I've seen 8th graders with bigger and better arms!

"Exercise Tolerance?" We all know a muscle won't grow without rest, but one never knows what he can "tolerate" until pushed past previously-set boundaries.

If you want to do a one-workout-a-week protocol, seek out better, more experienced and reputable HIT mentors... like Ellington Darden.

Save your money and don't buy this crap book. I gave it one star because we're required to. My choice would have been ZERO stars.
haha. Girly man arms. Do gymnasts(an example of steroid free athletes with huge arms) work out there arms 1-2 minutes a month?
