Jern Hambers, Olaf Evjenth. This book takes the anatomy of the human body and simplifies it into laymans terms. I find it a great teaching tool for my students of massage therapy. Muscle Stretching In Manual Therapy: A Clinical Manual: The Spinal Column And Tempro Mandibular Joint. Olaf Evjenth, Jern Hambers. They enjoy doing the stretches also. They take the muscles to the point of a proper stretch not a so-so stretch keeping the body in proper alignment.

Forty years ago, my Physical Therapist recommended this book to me when I had a neck sprain which prevented me from riding in a car, reading and even looking up, down or sideways. After daily following her P.T. exercises and the neck stretches in this book for months, I was returned to my normal self. Both she and my doctor were surprised that I recovered since most people don't. I made a simple check list of the exercises and stretches and did them three times a day with heat applied before and ice applied afterwards. After the first months I was able to slowly dribble a soccer ball on grass which made the stretching much more effective since my muscles were warmed up.

This book is very well organized by functional group (neck, lower back, elbow etc) and then by pain/problem you experience. Each stretch on two pages shows photographs of a model stretching. There muscle illustrations and step-by-step instructions with expected sensations and possible problems. It's almost as good as having a great P.T. at your side.

This book fabulous I use it with my clients and students. It is very accurate, understandable and not fluffy in the least.
My clients are mostly injured surfers
My students are mostly ageing yogis
And now I’m using it for an aid to my own recovery from a surfing injury.
Olaf wherever you are thank you????
