Reviews about Her Mother's Keeper (7):
I am a big Nora Roberts fan and I hardly ever write reviews, but this one was just horrible. I was bored after the first few chapters. I can't even remember the characters names, but all I could think of is that he kept treating her like she was a child instead of two adults starting a relationship. I wouldn't waste my money on this one.
I was looking forward to this book when I bought it. It was a good story, but moved too fast in the beginning, well, I do not think I can even say that it had a beginning more like it started in the middle. It would have been better if there had been more background to the story. We really don't know Michael and he played a big part in the main characters insecurities so knowing more about that relationship would have helped. As well she went to her mother's house trying to get rid of him hut almost as soon as she arrives she's miserab attracted to him and she let's hi kiss her/ falls in love. Let's just say that this book cost too much for its skimpy storyline. Don't get me wrong its a good story but has the potential to be a great story with a little more added to the beginning.
I have a great many of this author's books, but this one was simply a complete waste of time to read it. I selected "Predictable" and "Hopeful" from the list simply because there were no other options. But, the fact is that this book had no plot, there was no meaningful or comprehensive dialogue, and the main character came off like an idiot who couldn't say the obvious in plain terms (mostly choosing to say nothing rational at all) and as though she had absolutely no social skills although we were supposed to believe that she had a complex job where communication skills would be a major factor. One of the poorest offerings I have ever seen from Nora Roberts.
Nora is always a good book to read for pure entertainment. Nora books take you away to fantasy and fun .
The story started out interestingly enough but became slow and confusing. I liked Nora's books better when there was more mystery and danger involved. When the Heroine was in trouble and you had to figure out the " who done it ", and the secrets.
I typically love everything Nora Roberts writes, but "Her Mother's Keeper" was LAME! First, how many times do you just start making out with a guy you JUST MET - not to mention a guy who you think is sleeping with your mother?! WHAT?! Next, the pace of the book is completely boring and repetative. Finally, I just didn't get it... I'm just about 1/2 way through and I'm already done with it. Waste of money if you ask me. Sorry, Nora... definitely not a hit!
I love Nora Roberts, her books are fantastic!!!
I chose this rating because I really enjoyed reading this story. I am a fan of Nora Roberts. I haven't been disappointed on any of her books that I have read. She makes her characters come alive, and pulls you into the storyline . I had a hard time putting this book down.
