I used to be a children's librarian in the '70's and loved this book. I now have a grandson who is 6 and tracked this gem down. The line drawings are so clever. I only wonder WHY the kid had to get rid of this pet rhino. This would open the door for some imaginative discussion.

My 6 year old grandson loves this book, so does his 3 year old sister AND adults don't mind reading it, either! Fun story and cute drawings. I got the Aurora World Destination Rhinoceros stuffed toy to go with it - makes a great pairing for a gift.

Kids books are great gifts for parents to read, gifted Silverstein is really a great writer and his album is very humorous true to life balads, i would say its fantastic icon sugested for mature listening, it's true to life music, its humerous also, gets a laugh out of me, i did'nt know he wrote all the excellent short poems, that are thought provoking and humerous, in audio he's great, i don't care for poetry but his audio short poems will get a smile out of you and keep your attention, i believe he was a writer for playboy, and wrote music for Dr. Hook. the album is very entertaing, excellent wit on poems and childrens books.

I know Shel has left us, but such a great legacy he gives to our grand children. As a grandparent, I can think of nothing better than to teach our children to read & appreciate good books. Thank you to all you writers, artists & publishers . . . and especially Amazon for your easy distribution.

Know that it's for little little children. While Shel's poetry spans a greater age range, this one would be considered a starter. But still excellent Shel.
