Abbie opened the bottom drawer of her desk and removed her purse, a large shoulder-bag affair ronzed pink lipstick. The overhead light didn’t provide the best conditions for the application of makeup but it was infinitely better than the bare light bulb in the rest room. Abbie turned in her swivel chair so she was facing the full play of light while she freshened the color of her lips and inspected the results in the mirror

This was a good story but not one of her best.
It was too short and I feel the book could have been expanded to make it a little "meatier" and the characters a little more in depth.
I like to feel like I got my money's worth and that feeling was lacking in this book.

I love sweet romances about ministers who act like men, not monks. I adored the real-life, small town setting, and the characters were very real and full of fun. I liked that Abbie didn't have to be a Stepford-like "church wife" for Seth, and that even though he didn't ask her to change, she didn't end up changing who she was to please him, that they could both take joy in each other just the way God Himself made them. Just because someone isn't as religious doesn't make them any less spiritual, though Abbie will be going to church more often anyway, just as if Seth were a baseball player, she would be going to see him play. The so-called "black moment" in romantic fiction lasted about a page, and really wasn't much of a conflict, but this was a lighthearted romance, and such a minor sin is forgivable because a story, like life, is not always about the destination, but also the journey.

A good clean romance with characters you are interested in and who remain people you can relate to--so find the time to read this book.

I'm a big fan of Janet Dailey's Calder series books. The ending of For the Love of God was happy but I felt it was missing something.

Great book.

I love this book! It was a great illustration of the sterotypes that ministers face when it comes to love and marriage. I found Seth to be a sensitive, thoughtful man and Abbie was the perfect partner. I've read it twice and look forward to reading it again. It's a must read!
